Landon Donovan arrived in Dubai yesterday, where Bayern Munich is holding its midseason training camp, to begin training with the club for his 75-day loan. Landon was very excited to join the club, and finally begin training.
“I’m pleased and very excited to be here,” Landon told Bayern’s official website. “My goal is to become part of the team as quickly as possible. I’m confident it’ll work out. It was made very easy for me here at Bayern back in November. I was welcomed with open arms.“
He also expressed his excitement about playing alongside some of the best forwards in football, joining Luca Toni, Miroslav Klose, and Lukas Podolski on the front lines.

Landon Donovan made history by winning the 2008 Honda Player of the Year Award, thus becoming the only five time winner of the most coveted prize in U.S. Soccer.
For the last 18 years, the award has honored the best player on the U.S. National Soccer Team as chosen by the American sports media. This recognition coincides with the start of Donovan’s training with Bayern Munich in Germany. Donovan previously won the award in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2007.

After a sucessful campaign with the Los Angeles Galaxy in which Landon won the golden boot award for most goals scored during the MLS season, he has been given the opportunity to train with Bayern Munich of the Bundesliga. Landon will be training in Germany for the next 10 days.
The coach of Bayern Munich, Jürgen Klinsmann, has spent time with Landon in the past and believes he will fit right in during his trial with his team.
“I know Landon from my time with LA Galaxy. He is a fine lad, a very good footballer and a great personality in US soccer.”
Landon is excited to be in Germany again after playing there from 2001-2005 for Bayer Leverkusen.
